A revista norte-americana Out fez uma eleição para descobrir quais são os ábuns "mais gays" já lançados. A publicação ouviu músicos, DJs, atores, escritores e jornalistas para bolar a lista dos 100 discos mais afetados de todos os tempos.
Segundo os entrevistados, o álbum mais gay é The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, de 1972. Nesse clássico, David Bowie encarna o alienígena andrógino Ziggy Stardust.
The Smiths conseguiu colocar seu álbum homônimo, de 1984, e The Queen is Dead, de 1986, na lista dos dez mais. A lista completa ainda conta com figuras como Madonna, Cindy Lauper, Elton John, Queen, George Michael e Lou Reed.
